What Cagrilintide is
Cagrilintide is a long-acting analog of amylin, a hormone co-secreted with insulin that promotes satiety. It is being developed for chronic weight management, both alone and in a fixed combination with semaglutide (CagriSema). Phase 2 results showed meaningful weight reduction.

How Cagrilintide works
It activates amylin receptors in the brain, which reduces appetite and slows gastric emptying. Because the amylin pathway is distinct from GLP-1, combining the two is intended to produce additive weight loss — the rationale behind the CagriSema program.

A worked example
A 10 mg vial reconstituted with 2 mL of bacteriostatic water gives 5 mg/mL. A 2400 mcg dose is then 0.48 mL — about 48 units on a 100-unit insulin syringe, giving roughly 4 doses per vial before accounting for residual volume left in the vial and syringe.
