What Adipotide is
Adipotide is an investigational synthetic peptide engineered to home to the blood vessels that supply white adipose tissue and trigger their destruction. It drew attention for producing fat loss in primate studies without reducing food intake, but human development stalled early.

How Adipotide works
The peptide binds prohibitin, a protein displayed on the surface of blood-vessel cells in white fat. Binding delivers a pro-apoptotic signal that kills those vessel cells, cutting off the fat's blood supply so the adipose tissue is resorbed. This vascular mechanism is also the source of its main safety concern — effects on the kidneys, which share the target.

A worked example
A 5 mg vial reconstituted with 2 mL of bacteriostatic water gives 2.5 mg/mL. A 32000 mcg dose is then 12.8 mL — about 1280 units on a 100-unit insulin syringe, giving roughly 0 doses per vial before accounting for residual volume left in the vial and syringe.
